News: Unfortunately we have had to postpone this clinic due to a family emergency for the clinician. We are planning to reschedule for sometime later this year.
Shannon Ulias is a professional rider from Georgetown, Ontario, with a track record of successful training, coaching and competition in the sport of Eventing.
Riding since she was 6 years old, Shannon moved up through the ranks of Pony Club to graduate with earning her “A” level. Shannon learned to appreciate and find success in wide variety of equestrian sports but found the excitement and challenge of Eventing irresistible. Shannon sharpened her skills through further training with Tim Grubb, Hugh Graham, Peter Gisborn, and Australian John Mills, and founded “Shannon Ulias Training and Sales” in 2003 – a 30 stall training/riding facility.
Since then Shannon has coached many riders (young and old) to reach their goals – be it starting/training a youngster, finding the confidence to hack out, or entering the show ring. Shannon takes the time to evaluate and determine each students/horses individual needs and always makes sure her students remember to find the time to enjoy what it is they do. Shannon has been coach to several individuals in the Ontario Young Riders program for Eventing.
Recently focused on developing several young horses, her current top mount is 6 yr old Tuff Reality who will be upgrading to the preliminary level for the 2010 season, and 3 year olds Benalittle Buzzed and Krushend-O will be making their show debuts.
——-
Cost for the clinic is $175 for a training session each day for 3-days, with additional non-mounted sessions to discuss the sport of Eventing.
Sessions will be tailored to the experience level of the horse and rider in order to provide a positive and safe training session, and will be progressive throughout the clinic.
Approved safety vests are mandatory for cross country training during this clinic.
Stabling available for $50 for the weekend, initial bedding included.
Register by June 1 2010.

Come on out to a Western Schooling Show and Fun Games Day at Willow Ridge, hosted by the Willow Ridge Riders!
Get that final practice run in before the SHF Heritage Open circuit or the SRHA reining circuits really get underway… or just come and enjoy a casual showing atmosphere to get your “feet wet” (figuratively speaking, of course!). We’re going to run the reining indoors, and the rest of the show outdoors weather and class permitting.
The fun day will be casual horse games, and everyone is welcome to attend. English/western/whatever, doesn’t matter, just come on out and have fun!
Here’s the registration forms for our Western Schooling and Fun Day:

wrrc March Show Report
Mar 23
The third winter schooling show was last weekend and it was another successful event! Thanks to all the participants, the judges Jill McDonald and Sharon Forbes, and OF COURSE, to our wonderful volunteers from the Willow Ridge Riders and the Grasswood Fillies who did everything from the ring steward, the announcing, the concession, jump/trail crew, and anything that needed doing! I think everyone had a good time and learned a lot. There was quite a range of riders again, with over 60 rider-horse pairs registered. Some of the most popular classes were reining, dressage, western pleasure, road hack, and hunters. All the jump equipment had a fresh coat of paint that made it shine, and there was a brand new “gate”, “coops”, “walls”, and planks that really livened up the fences – again, thanks to the hard work of club members and their supporters. All those fresh colours and fresh attitudes… What a way to ring in Spring!
The “pet project” was a special fence in the 2’9″ and 3’0″ jumpers.

The “Wall of Coffee” made entirely out of Tim Horton’s cups, something that started as a crazy idea one day, and somehow became reality.
We said there’d only be 3 schooling shows, but turns out we don’t know how to “quit”. There’ll be another schooling show in May. Because much of the English show season will already be underway, this one will be focused on Western show events, and then fun events for everyone.
And of course, in July, the Willow Ridge Riders will be holding their 2nd Big Summer Show, to be sanctioned SHF Heritage Circuit (and possibly Prairie Cup, depending on what classes end up running).
And to all who plan on showing this season — make sure you and your horse are nominated for the appropriate SHF circuit! Shirley Brodsky tells us the 2010 rulebooks are now available from SHF office.
